My Review on: Urban Decay Electric palette

For today’s review, I will be talking about the highly anticipated, brand new palette released by Urban Decay. Even though I personally love the Naked line from UD, a lot of people found it overdone and were dying for some colors to be brought back to the brand; well they didn’t disappoint with this amazing palette! And the great thing is, this palette is part of their permanent collection so there’s no need to run out and buy it asap! :D

This palette, from first glance, has the most amazing packaging I have seen in awhile. I don’t even plan on throwing away the box, that’s how pretty it is! The palette itself is a hard plastic casing with a magnetic closure. One thing people really like about the packaging on this one is that the mirror can stand up on it’s own (like the previous Vice palettes) so it’s easier to do your makeup when you take it travelling with you. The palette comes with a total of 10 bright, in-your-face colored eyeshadows and a double ended brush. The brush to me is great for a palette like this, the bristles are very stiff (but not to the point where they’ll hurt your eyes); the flat eyeshadow brush side is great for packing on the colors and the small smudger brush side is great for either smudging the color out or placing color in the smallest of areas (like your inner corner or lower lash line). 

For the swatches, I applied the shades over an Urban Decay eyeshadow primer to get the best color payoff possible; and it’s just one quick swipe down my hand:

Revolt is a bright metallic silver, this shade was in one of the previous Face Case palettes back from the holiday 2013 season

Gonzo is a bright sky blue. For some reason, I can’t help but think that this was named after the muppet Gonzo, which wouldn’t surprise me seeing as he is blue

Slowburn is a bright, firey orangey red. This is honestly my favorite shade in this whole palette! I know a lot of people have a problem with this eyeshadow (I don’t know why) but I’ll go into more detail about that later

Savage is a bright hot pink, another favorite of mine

Fringe is a deep teal with a slight light blue duochrome shift to it

Chaos is a bright, vivid cobalt blue. This shade was actually in the very first Vice palette. I personally loved that shade when I would use it from the Vice palette but found it hard to use. I feel like they changed the formula for it in this palette because it doesn’t apply as patchy, has less fall out, and is easier to blend :D

Jilted is a beautiful magenta shade that has a lovely blue-ish duochrome, this is another favorite of mine in this palette

Urban is another beautiful, deep blue toned purple that also has a slight duochrome shift to it

Freak is a bright, almost neon lime green with a slight yellow duochrome shift. I was really excited when I heard that they were coming out with this eyeshadow; the Freak 24/7 liner pencil is one of my favorites and I never thought that it would be turned into an eyeshadow

Thrash is a bright neon chartreuse. This is also another favorite shade of mine and it makes me think of margaritas

Now before I get into my final thoughts on this palette, I'm going to address the top 4 complaints that people are having about this palette....mainly because I really hate the fact that people are so quick to throw harsh complaints on a product they have only used once or twice.


First common complaint is that the palette is too blue toned. It personally doesn’t bother me that the palette is this way, the shades are all so beautiful and I feel they all work well blended with each other. The shades, even though they are blue in tone, all have a special uniqueness to them. I can maybe understand the complaint if the eyeshadows that were blue toned were all similar to each other or sucked terribly, but they’re all great and I don’t get why it’s a problem

Second common complaint is that there is no yellow or orange in the palette. People have been complaining a lot that shade Slowburn will be hard to pair with anything in the palette because it’ll either look to contrasting or holiday styled. I don’t agree at all. One of my favorite youtubers (Nijigasumi16) brought up a really great point in her video by saying that if you pay close attention to the actual design on the palette itself, they give you a hint on what colors to combine with Slowburn, for example: 

And like she also brought up, a bright yellow or orange can be found in almost every bright colored palette out there so it’s nice that Urban Decay wanted to try something different. It’ll help you to start getting creative with your eyeshadow combinations and to get out of your comfort zone. Even though I love every single eyeshadow in this palette, if I did have to take out just one of the shades to replace it, I would take out Revolt (the silver) and replace it with a deep matte black. I still love that silver shade, don’t get me wrong, but I have their other silver shade from the Vice 2 palette and I think a black would complete this palette better than a yellow or orange.
Third common complaint is the fact that the shades Urban, Jilted, Savage and Slowburn are warned to not be used around the immediate eye area. If you look closely on both the box and palette themselves, you’ll see the warning printed on there. Now here’s the thing, those shades are APPROVED everywhere else like Europe and Canada but not in the US. Palettes like the Sleek Acid palette (also full of neon shades) are not approved here in the US but can be worn elsewhere. For the mere fact that the FDA here is so freaking strict, Urban Decay decided to call this a “pressed pigment” palette. Because “pressed pigment” is such a loose term (meaning they can be used as anything but eyeshadow) UD is allowed to sell this product here in the US, otherwise you would have to spend your time trying to find it on Ebay and have it shipped from overseas! And if you look really closely at the neon pigments that Sugarpill is selling, those are ALSO not approved by the FDA but approved everywhere else (jump on the fucking bandwagon america!)  I don’t personally know why neon eyeshadows are banned here, but I can tell you this, I personally have very sensitive eyes and have never had any problems using those shades around my eyes! Since I’ve received the palette, I have done 3 looks using nothing but the “banned” shades and they have caused absolutely no problems with me! I have suffered no irritation or swelling or none of that B.S so I really don’t think this palette will hurt anyone else ( I will say though that if you have INTENSELY sensitive eyes that ANY eyeshadows or cosmetics irritates them, then this palette will be no different for you).
Fourth and final complaint is that some of the shades will stain your eyes (like Slowburn, Savage, and Chaos). I personally feel that as long as you wear an eyeshadow primer or base, the shades won’t stain your eyes at all. And even if you didn’t, the eyeshadows will only stain your eyes just a tiny bit and it’s nothing that makeup remover won’t take off! Some of the Sugarpill eyeshadows stain my eyes and it doesn’t bother me. When you’re dealing with bright, highly pigmented eyeshadows, you’re gonna have to expect them to leave a slight stain. If that’s something that’s gonna bother you that much, then you should stay away from bright colored eyeshadows in general, I don’t mean to sound harsh but it’s true.

 Now for my final thoughts, I fucking LOOOVE this palette! I can not tell you how happy I am that Urban Decay came out with a palette like this and that it’s also going to be part of their permanent collection! The shades have amazing color payoff and blend like a dream! If you are someone who loves bright, vivid neon eyeshadows, you should seriously give this palette a try!

My Review on: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil Vault

Urban Decay, along with their Naked palettes, is very well known for their HUGE selection of eye liner pencils. For today's review, I will be talking about the pencil vault set that they sold for the 2013 holiday season. 

This set was limited edition and is no longer available but all the different shades of pencil liners can be bought separately!

Even though the set itself can no longer be purchased, the main reason I wanted to do a review on it is so you can check out all the different shades that Urban Decay has to offer. There's a total of 40 colors available in the liner collection so there's definitely something for everybody! The interesting thing about these liners, besides their amazing colors, is the packaging itself. Each cover on the pencils helps to inform you what kind of finish the pencil has. The pencils with shimmers have a glittery cover, the matte pencils have a matte cover, etc. Now onto the swatches!

These were just a quick couple of swipes on my bare hand:

Perversion is a deep, dark blackest black. This is one of the best black pencil liners I have ever used. The only thing that sucks is that I can not wear it on my waterline. Because of the high carbon pigment, it can be really irritating so keep that in mind if you have sensitive eyes. I still wear this on my lower lash line every single day and have no issues so that's great

Zero is another black, but this one is a little lighter, especially when compared to Perversion. Now this pencil is great for when you still want a nice black on the waterline that won't irritate your eyes. This one doesn't make my eyes tear up or anything

Oil Slick is a dark grayish black with sparkly silver micro-glitter

Uzi is a shimmery dark gray

Smoke is a deep, matte dark gray, I love pairing this liner with my Naked 3 palette

Desperation is similar to Smoke but just a few shades lighter

Demolition is a dark, cool toned grayish brown

Whiskey is a deep, golden, warm chocolate brown

Bourbon is another warm chocolate brown but has a slight golden shimmer to it

Roach is a light warm brown with a reddish duochrome to it, this is one of my favorite shades in the whole collection. Definitely reminds me of the color of a roach's wing

Smog is a dusty, cool toned bronze

Underground is a warm toned taupey brown

Mushroom is along the same lines as Underground but leans more on the cool toned taupe side

Hustle is similar to Smog but is a little more of a darker brown

Scorch is a bronzed cool toned copper 

Goldmine is a bright, light yellow gold

Stash is a swampy green with a slight yellow duochrome, does the name make you think of anything?

Mildew is a deep forest green with a light green duochrome

Loaded is a deep, blue toned forest green

Corrupt is a warm brown with a hint of red micro glitter

Invasion is a dark, deep green undertoned blue

Mainline is a gorgeous dark teal, this is another favorite of mine

Junkie is a super beautiful deep sea blue that has a slight yellow duochrome and also has light green micro glitter. This is possibly my favorite shade in the whole collection!

Freak is another gorgeous bright neon-like lime green with a yellow duochrome to it. I know this a favorite shade for a lot of people and it isn't hard to see why

Deep End is a bright teal

Electric is a satiny, light baby blue

LSD is a deep blue with bright blue micro glitter

Sabbath is a gorgeous deep, dark inky blue. another favorite of mine

Abyss is similar to Electric but just a few shades darker

Chaos is a striking cobalt blue

Ether is a light gray with purple micro glitter, it's a strange but beautiful color

Rockstar is warm, reddish toned dark purple 

Empire is a deep, dark royal purple, very lovely color

Delinquent is a dark grayish purple with pinky/purple micro glitter

Vice is a warm eggplant purple with tiny pink micro glitter, looove this shade as well

Psychedelic Sister is a blue undertoned purple with very faint pinky micro glitter

Asphyxia is a beautiful light pinky purple with a blue duochrome and light blue micro glitter. I love using this shade as a base for the eyeshadow Trick from the Naked 3 palette

Woodstock is a warm hot pink 

Cuff is a bright metallic silver

Yeyo is a creamy, satiny white

Out of all the pencil liners I have ever tried in my makeup wearing life, these are by far my favorite pencil liners ever! They go on very smooth and creamy and once they set, they will not budge! I also found that these work amazingly as bases for eyeshadows and some of them can even be used as a lip liner if you're into crazy colored lipstick. 
Some of the shades are on the more sheer side (Freak, Asphyxia, and Ether are more sheer than the others) so they may need to be applied a little bit more to get full color pay off and coverage; but they're still amazingly gorgeous colors! And if you do also plan to wear them as a base for your eyeshadow, I highly recommend doing one eye at a time! Because these pencils set so quickly, if you do both eyes at the same time and try to blend them out, it will be extremely difficult to! And I'd recommend doing the same if you're wanting to smudge out your liner as well!

My Review on: Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

When it comes to Urban Decay, one of the biggest things that people identify them with is their ever popular Naked palettes. The first Naked palette was geared towards the warm, bronzy side of the neutral spectrum and Naked 2 was geared towards the cool, taupey side of the neutral spectrum. Almost everyone thought that there could be no way possible that you could expand on the neutral range, but boy were we wrong! For this review, I'll be talking about the new(ish) Naked palette from Urban Decay....the Naked 3 woo!

I have to say, when I first heard that there was going to be a Naked 3 palette, I flipped my shit! The thing that separates this palette from the first 2 is that this is geared more towards the rosey/pinky neutral spectrum.This palette comes with 12 eyeshadows to choose from, along with a double-ended brush (which is actually a very good quality brush) and a sampler set of all their eyeshadow primer potions. The packaging on this palette is gorgeous! Urban Decay never ceases to amaze me with their packaging. It's the same kind of plastic casing as the Naked 2, but it has a rippled effect at the top and is rose gold color instead of taupe. I even found the box that it came in lovely, so lovely, I didn't even throw it away! You get a great mix of different textures in here; you have your mattes, satins, shimmers, etc.

Now on to the swatches! These are just a quick swipe down my hand (they are applied over UD's primer potion for the best color payoff):

Trick is a gorgeous pinky/orangey copper shade. I love applying this eyeshadow on top of their eye liner pencil in the color Asphyxia, looks beautiful! 

Buzz is a dusty, shimmery pinky/rose

Limit is a lovely, light, dusty rose toned brown. This is one of my favorite shades in this palette, it goes with my skin tone perfectly and blends out flawlessly

Burnout is a light rosey pink shimmer

Dust is a very pale pink shimmer. This one has the least amount of color payoff and can be a bit powdery when applying it. I find that applying it over a white base (like the NYX jumbo pencil in milk) really helps it to stand out more. It's everyones' least favorite shade in the palette but I like it

Strange is a milky pink-toned beige, this makes an amazing brow bone and inner corner highlight for the eyes

Blackheart is a beautiful deep brown-ish black laced with red micro glitter, this is another favorite shade of mine!

Darkside is a deep, cool-toned taupey brown 

Mugshot is a rosey, grayish bronze

Factory is a pink undertoned rosey brown shade, very pretty as well

Liar is along the same lines as Factory but is a lighter brown that leans more on the light pinky side

Nooner is possibly my favorite shade in the whole palette. It's similar to Limit but is a deeper, dusty rose brown matte. Loooove this color!

I have to say that the mattes in this palette are by far my favorites! They're so buttery and smooth and blend like a dream. All the colors, to me, are gorgeous. As I said, Dust is really the only shade that needs a little more tender loving care, but it's lovely regardless! Urban Decay never fails to give great quality to their eyeshadows. This palette is great for every day looks, date nights, and would even be lovely during those gray, cool winter days. I also found that pairing these shades with a gray liner works beautifully and really brings out the pink/rosey tones in the eyeshadows. 

I know a lot of people have tried to say that the Naked 3 is similar to the Naked 2. I'd have to disagree if I'm being fully honest. The undertones to the shadows are completely different and of course, the color choices are different too.

This is seriously my favorite palette out of the entire Naked collection. It's great for lighter skin tones with pink/rosey undertones to their skin (the other Naked palettes are great as well, but a lot of people with light, pinky undertones found them to be too warm for their skin type). To be honest, I'm really not too sure how well this palette will hold up for darker/warmer skin tones. Only reason I say is because these shades are very light  and pink toned and may not have great color payoff for warmer skin tones. But of course, you can always try it out anyway, and who knows, it might work for you (I'm very pale and I still love using the first Naked palette) :D .

My Review on: Urban Decay Naked Lipglosses

For today, I will be writing my thoughts on the (sorta) new Naked lipglosses from Urban Decay. UD has been doing a huge expansion on their Naked line these past few months and I'm really quite liking it! I know a lot of people think it's way too overdone but I don't think you can ever be too overdone when it comes to cosmetics. When I had first seen pictures of the glosses, I knew I just had to have them. The packaging on these is soooo beautiful! Rose gold, the word "Naked" carved into it, the fact that you can see the actual product on the bottom...ugh, it's just so beautiful! I will be talking about the 8 shades that I have, I am sadly only missing the shade "Walk of Shame" but I plan on buying it very soon (can't wait to have the entire collection)! 

Here are some swatches, these were just one quick swipe down my bare hand:

Naked is a very light pinky nude color with tiny pink micro-glitter, adds a lovely sheen to the lips

Lovechild is a very light, milky baby pink. This is one of my favorite shades, it adds the most lovely hint of pink to your lips without looking to overboard, love it!

Streak is a goooorgeous pinky coral color, this is my favorite shade in the entire collection! I've never used coral lip products before, but because of this gloss, it's starting to become a color I'm obsessed with and want to buy more of

Liar is a very dusty, rosey/pink color, would look really nice during the fall season

Freestyle is a very shimmery, brownish gold color. The shimmer in this one looks amazing on the lips

Nooner is a light nude brown with a slight pink undertone to it. This color suits my lips perfectly and is another favorite of mine

Rule 34 is along the same lines as Nooner but it's slightly darker and has more of a mauve-ish undertone to it (gotta love the names of urban decay products lol. they must know the internet)

Beso is a deep, dark mauve/brown. This one to me has the most color pay off compared to the other shades, this is also a favorite of mine in this collection

When it comes to the formula in these glosses, Urban Decay did an amazing job! They don't feel sticky at all and really help to moisturize your lips. They feel more like a thicker lip balm than a lip gloss, it's pretty damn amazing!

Now I have noticed that people have 2 main complaints about these that I'm going to address. The first common complaint I've noticed is the taste/smell of them. Some people have said that they smell like harsh chemicals. I honestly don't get where that comes from. To me, these glosses smell herbally/earthy with a faint minty smell. I don't find the smell to be harsh at all, but I am also not very picky or sensitive to the smells of cosmetics so it doesn't bother me. As for the taste, I haven't found any lip product (unless it's flavored with something) that doesn't have a slight funny taste to it. The glosses to me do taste a bit funny, but nothing that's unbearable or is gonna keep me from wearing them (to me, they taste like really old mint gum). The second common complaint I've seen a lot is the "lacking" pigmentation in the glosses. You would think that a product called "Naked" lipgloss that people would understand what it's meant for but apparently not. I don't mean to sound harsh, but these are not a liquid lipstick or a stain. Because they are a gloss, the pigmentation isn't gonna be "BAM!!" right in your face, and because it's part of the Naked line, it's meant to be a (my lips but better) type of product. There's 9 different shades to match all different kinds of lip colors and finding your perfect nude lip gloss is the whole point of these products (I want all 9 of them because I am a makeup junkie and that's just how I am lol). Plus they're laced with really good moisturizers and help with fine lines in your lips and give them a lovely youth appearance. And because they are a gloss, the wear-time on these isn't gonna be anything crazy like 12 hours or more. I have worn these to work and they usually last me about 3 1/2 hours without me eating or drinking anything which really isn't that bad for a gloss. 

These glosses would go beautifully with the 3 Naked palettes that Urban Decay has and they're great for everyday wear. I seriously love these glosses, I think they're worth every penny. I say that if you're at all interested in buying one of these glosses, I would recommend going to a cosmetics shop that carries UD products and swatching each shade on the back of your hand and finding your perfect nude color. Plus these glosses will make your lips feel so smooth and amazing, I personally have never experienced that from any lip glosses that I have tried. Hope this was helpful guys! ^__^
